Optional Damage Waiver Policy

Navigating Bali's tropical pathways, hotel ramps, and bustling areas can sometimes result in unforeseen scuffs or mishaps. Our Optional Damage Waiver ("ODW") shields travelers from costly repair or replacement expenses.

1. What is the Optional Damage Waiver?

The Optional Damage Waiver ("ODW") is a peace-of-mind add-on agreement offered by BaliRent. While not an insurance policy, the waiver contractually releases the Lessee from financial liability for unintended, accidental minor damage sustained by the rented medical equipment during ordinary use in Bali.

Without the Damage Waiver, the customer is fully liable under our Rental Agreement for the actual retail cost of replacement parts and professional technician labor required to restore damaged equipment.

2. Protection Comparison: With vs. Without Waiver

Accidental ScenarioWITH Damage WaiverWITHOUT Damage Waiver
Punctured Wheelchair Tire / Inner Tube$0 (100% Covered + Free Swap)Billed for tube replacement (IDR 250,000)
Accidental Footrest or Armrest Fracture$0 (100% Covered)Billed for genuine spare part (IDR 400,000–800,000)
Upholstery Tear from Transfer Snag$0 (100% Covered)Billed for fabric restitching / cushion renewal
Scratched Frame from Hotel Doorway$0 (100% Covered)Minor scuffs tolerated; deep gouges billed
Total Theft or Loss of EquipmentNot Covered (Police report required)Full retail replacement cost billed

3. What is Covered by the Damage Waiver

When purchased, the waiver covers accidental, unexpected physical damage resulting from ordinary daily mobility, including:

  • Punctures or ruptures to pneumatic and solid wheelchair tires.
  • Cracked or broken plastic footplates, heel loops, or calf straps caused by pavement curbs or door thresholds.
  • Torn, ripped, or snagged seat and backrest canvas upholstery during passenger transfers.
  • Bent brake levers or broken parking lock latches resulting from inadvertent handling.
  • Scratched, chipped, or abraded powder-coated aluminum frames.

4. Exclusions & Prohibited Acts

The following actions void waiver protections and result in full repair or replacement charges:

  • Water & Salt Submersion: Submerging equipment into hotel swimming pools, ocean waves, or driving through beach tide wash. Saltwater causes catastrophic corrosion and motor short-circuits.
  • Gross Negligence & Reckless Operation: Extreme sports, allowing unauthorized minors to operate motorized gear, or carrying excess passengers on a single mobility device.
  • Exceeding Manufacturer Weight Limits: Structural bending or failure resulting from loading beyond rated capacity.
  • Operating Under Influence: Operation while intoxicated or impaired by alcohol or narcotics.
  • Disassembly or Self-Repair: Tampering with electrical wiring, motor controllers, or modifying frames.

5. Theft & Mysterious Disappearance

The Damage Waiver covers damage, not disappearance. It does not indemnify against total loss or theft.

In the rare event of equipment theft while unattended at a public tourist attraction, the Lessee must immediately file an official report with the local Bali Police (Kepolisian Sektor - Polsek) and notify BaliRent within six (6) hours. Lessee remains responsible for the depreciated replacement value of the stolen unit.

6. Incident Reporting Procedure

To validate coverage under your Damage Waiver in the event of an accident:

  1. Ensure patient safety first. Move to a safe location if needed.
  2. Take clear photographs of the damaged part or malfunctioning component.
  3. Send the photos to our 24/7 WhatsApp concierge within twelve (12) hours of the incident.
  4. Our technical team will immediately dispatch a courier with a fresh replacement unit to your accommodation at zero replacement fee.

7. Waiver Fee & Opt-In Terms

The Optional Damage Waiver may be added during your initial booking inquiry or prior to equipment handover. It is charged as a nominal daily surcharge (typically IDR 35,000–50,000 / day depending on equipment model).

The Damage Waiver fee is non-refundable once equipment delivery has occurred.
